A simple way of testing Google’s Android mobile operating system is to go get yourself an Android-powered phone or tablet. There are lots and lots of Android-powered devices out there, from cheap, low-spec ones up to quite expensive and very powerful ones.
An even simpler way of testing Google’s Android mobile operating system is to go get Windroy. You see, this is a tool that lets you run Android on a Windows PC.

Here are the steps you must go through to get Windroy up and running on your Windows-powered computer: download and run an installer; click through the instructions presented by a setup wizard; run Windroy; enter the required registration info; wait for Android to launch.

Windroy will work with PCs powered by Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
Please note that Windroy is still in an early stage of development. This means it may not work on your PC. I too encountered this problem. But after a bit of maintenance, I managed to get Windroy up and running.

The interface and the functionality are just what you would expect to get from Google’s Android mobile operating system – Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, mind you. If you are familiar with Android ICS, you’ll immediately feel at home and you’ll be glad to run Android on a Windows PC. If you’re not familiar with Android ICS, you’ll be glad that you can uncover and test the mobile operating system on your PC, without having to purchase a smartphone or tablet.

Want to run Android on a Windows? If that is the case, go get Windroy, a full porting of Google Android to Microsoft Windows.

Pros

There is nothing complicated about getting Windroy up and running on a Windows PC. Windroy will work with PCs powered by Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1. The interface and the functionality are just what you would expect to get from Android version 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Cons

Windroy is still in an early stage of development.
